Teaching Assistant (Art Focus) Southampton
Prospero Teaching are looking for a creative and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in Southampton. The setting provides a supportive and engaging environment for young people with a range of special educational needs, including autism (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
The school is particularly keen to find someone with a passion for art who can use creative approaches to inspire pupils and support their emotional and educational development.
The Role
1. Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential.
2. Use art and creativity to engage students and encourage self-expression.
3. Assist teachers in adapting resources and delivering lessons that meet diverse needs.
4. Promote independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
5. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistent care and support.
Requirements
6. Experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable).
7. A background or keen interest in art, design, or creative practice.
8. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude.
9. A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning.
10. Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

16. Hours: 08:30-15:30, Monday to Friday (term time only)
17. Training Provided: Ongoing SEN and safeguarding training available through Prospero Teaching
