Offer description

Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN/SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in West Yorkshire. Multiple positions are available, and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support. We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs)/SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties).

We are looking for SEN/SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in West Yorkshire. At Targeted Provision, our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK. You will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN/SEND Support Specialists.

This role is perfect for qualified SEN/SEND teachers who are eager to work via 1:1 tutoring with children and young people with a variety of learning needs, in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner, to raise their engagement and drastically improve the outlook of their educational journey.


What we offer our SEN/SEND Tutors:

1. Flexible part-time up to Full time hours to suit your schedule
2. Occasional opportunities for remote jobs and online teaching assignments
3. Extensive CPD and upskilling opportunities, including access to the full Tes CPD suite
4. A dedicated SEN/SEND Support Team to ensure successful placements
5. Invitation to join our tutor community for sharing best practices and resources
6. A role providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with various educational and social-emotional needs
7. Support for young people referred by local authorities and schools, requiring educational and social-emotional support
8. Role involves providing flexible, holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring


SEN/SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities:

1. Planning each teaching/tutoring/mentoring session
2. Providing engaging sessions tailored to the young person's needs
3. Completing lesson reports and providing progress feedback
4. Engaging as a Worker to provide short-term engagements as they arise
5. Working through a contract for service and paid via PAYE
6. Note: No set amount of work or expenses coverage; insurance covers your work
7. This is not a self-employed position

Minimum requirements:

* Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS/QTLS)
* Minimum 2 years teaching experience
* Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other needs
* Knowledge of safeguarding processes
* Enhanced DBS (assistance available at cost)
* Two professional references
* Right to work in the UK

It is essential to promote health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people, following safeguarding policies at all times.


Relevant roles from teaching and support backgrounds include:

* SENCo (Special Education Needs Coordinator)
* SLD/MLD Teacher
* Autism/ADHD Support Teacher
* Intervention Specialist
* Ex-Teacher

Other relevant roles include Learning Support Assistant, Educational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist, and Inclusion Coordinator.
