We are working with a highly regarded Top 100 City law firm to hire a Risk & Compliance Lawyer in London. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Risk & Compliance Director to provide comprehensive legal and regulatory advice firmwide, ensuring the highest standards of professional conduct are maintained.
The firm is looking for a qualified solicitor with significant experience in law firm risk and compliance who is comfortable advising senior partners and legal stakeholders on complex ethical issues.
The responsibilities will include:
* Providing front-line guidance to partners and lawyers on a wide range of regulatory and professional conduct matters.
* Assisting with professional indemnity insurance reviews and renewals, including reporting claims and circumstances to insurers.
* Supporting the firm’s COLP in recording and investigating complaints and managing the process through to resolution.
* Drafting and advising on firm-wide risk and compliance policies to ensure they remain aligned with the SRA Handbook and latest legislation.
* Managing the annual central audit process and acting as a primary liaison for external accreditors.
* Reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, including terms of engagement, outside counsel guidelines, and supplier agreements.
* Handling routine data protection enquiries and assisting the Data Protection Partner with breach management.
* Monitoring legal and regulatory developments to proactively initiate necessary changes to internal procedures.
They are looking for candidates with expert knowledge of the SRA Principles and the Code of Conduct, ideally underpinned by a background in professional negligence or litigation. You should be a professional communicator who can interact effectively at all levels of seniority while maintaining a meticulous eye for detail.
