Job Description
To support BECL’s business goals by formulating and driving strategies in Health, Safety & Security (HSS) which eliminate or minimise associated business risk, protect guests, employees and contractors, and ensure BECL’s reputation in the marketplace.
Provide expert advice, mentoring and support to the senior leadership team, attraction management in identifying and managing HSS risk, implementing effective HSS policies, standards and programmes, and instigating and maintaining governance/reporting processes.
Responsible for driving continuous improvement and maintaining health, safety and security as core value of the overall business.
Responsibilities
Drive the HSS strategy for BECL and sets the agenda/framework for continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain an effective HSS risk assessment strategy/culture and via an auditing programme and ensure that all risks are sufficiently identified and controlled.
Undertake impact assessments for new HSS legislation and industry Codes of Practice / Standards where they could impact BECL.
In conjunction with other HSS professional’s, help to ensure that BECL management fully understand the relevant components of such new HSS legislation and industry Codes of Practice / Standards.
Ensure the effective management of fire and food risks within BECL.
Identify and drive safety initiatives/standards which support business expansion, acquisition, and mobilisation.
Deliver effective HSS training as required across BECL.
To formulate, develop and monitor the implementation of HSS policies, systems, procedures, and standards for operations across BECL in order to ensure effective safety management.
Qualifications and Experience
To hold at least a NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety or Industry equivalent.
Experience and knowledge of best-in-class HSS practices and systems.
Excellent in influencing and relationship management.
Experience of working in high risk industries.
Highly developed interpersonal communications skills and cultural sensitivity.
Strong project & change management skills – able to implement changes which add value and benefit to BECL.
Business and commercial awareness – able to suggest and recommend alternative ways of operating which enhances BECL.
Creative, keen to trial new concepts to put/keep BECL at the forefront of HSS.
Process and detail orientated.
Determination to help deliver a first class HSS function.
Ability to demonstrate problem solving and being solution focused.
Able to work during unusual times of the day to support BECL, including work and travel during weekends and evenings when required.
