Position Summary
This role is for an ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse working in the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust across the Scarborough and Bridlington sites, supporting an 8‑theatre service covering general surgery, urology, gynaecology, ENT, Max Fax, ophthalmology, obstetrics, elective orthopaedics and trauma.
Responsibilities
Day‑to‑day duties will include using acquired anaesthetic skills to support the anaesthetic needs of the peri‑operative patient and supporting the emergency response teams with airway needs of deteriorating patients. Evidence of training in such roles is essential for any candidates wishing to apply.
* Maintain a high standard of patient‑focused care in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
* Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
* Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient.
* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct and HCPC standard of proficiency for Operating Department Practitioners.
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands.
* Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
Qualifications
We are looking for ODP Practitioners or Registered Nurses with an anaesthetic qualification and a minimum of three years of experience in the peri‑operative setting. Evidence of training in supporting airway needs and emergency response is essential.
