A vacancy have arisen within site services for a senior environmental specialist. The purpose of the post is to execute the environmental compliance demonstration programme of work and the job holder will be responsible for performing and directing environmental activities and document delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:
Support the development of implementation of the environmental management processes & standards, within the Dounreay integrated management system as appropriate to continue to ensure delivery of environmental compliance
Interact with internal and external stakeholders and regulators on environmental monitoring and closure issues
Provide advice & guidance to the Dounreay site on the implementation of environment management processes and standards with respect to site closure and achieving Interim End State (IES) requirements
Support development of sanction documents and business plans
Delivery of comprehensive statutory reports in a timely fashion
Manage and review the environmental data sets
Support the project manager in the day-to-day delivery of tasks and problem solving
Produce and mentor others in the production of technical reports, specifications, documentation and assessments
Represent Dounreay at internal and external forums as delegated
Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to the post. Be appointed to the radioactive waste advisor corporate body
Manage Dounreay staff as a Line Manager
Plan and deliver site investigations including drilling programmes, monitoring borehole construction, hydraulic testing and water sampling
Technical support on collaborative contractor projects
Support the installation, maintenance and data quality checking of digital field monitoring instruments
Develop, and support development of, hydraulic numerical models
Aptitudes and experience:
Degree qualified in science/engineering or equivalent qualifications plus experience
Comprehensive environmental experience
Experience of contaminated land assessment and remediation
Comprehensive experience of working at nuclear/industrial sites
Sound interpersonal and communication skills
Experience of hydrogeology, radiological performance assessment or contaminated land assessment/remediation, or, qualified geologist, hydrogeologist, hydrologist, environmental scientist, geochemist or other environmental scientific discipline related to land quality management or environmental monitoring activities
Professional membership preferably chartered to relevant body
