Based in a purpose-built, high-end office facility close to the Festival Leisure Park in Basildon, we benefit from excellent local amenities and easy access.
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Part-Time Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial operations.
You will work closely with our Chartered Accountant, who maintains overall control of the accounts and handles year-end submissions.
This role would suit someone highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a small, friendly business environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate bookkeeping records
* Manage purchase and sales ledgers
* Prepare and submit VAT returns
* Perform bank reconciliations and cashflow monitoring
* Process payroll and pension submissions
* Prepare monthly management accounts
* Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants
* Prepare and submit CIS returns
Requirements
* Proven experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
* Good working knowledge of UK accounting practices and HMRC requirements
* Experience using Xero accounting software
* Payroll knowledge and experience
* Strong Excel and general IT skills
* High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
* GCSE or equivalent
Desirable
* AAT qualification or equivalent
* Experience within construction, joinery, or manufacturing sectors
