We're now looking for a
reliable and dedicated studio technician
to join our small, hands-on team. If you're a friendly, clay-savvy multitasker with a great attitude, we'd love to hear from you.
Position Details
We are looking for cover on Thursday and Friday evenings, and Sunday daytimes with opportunities for more days and further training available.
** Core Responsibilities
Studio Maintenance**
* Daily cleaning: mopping, wiping surfaces, tables, stools, blinds
* Clean and maintain pottery wheels, sinks, traps, tools, and other equipment
* Unload clay deliveries (must be able to lift 12.5kg bags) and organize storage
Technical & Firing Support
* Load/unload
our Skutt kiln
(training provided)
* Fire work to studio standards, remove glaze from shelves, batt-wash kiln shelves
* Mix glazes from recipes, adhering to proper health and safety practices
* Wear protective gear (dust masks, gloves) when handling glaze materials
* Recycle and wedge clay; label and store materials neatly
* Glaze student pieces from workshops
Teaching & Customer Support
* Assist with
corporate events, team-building days, parties
, ensuring work is correctly labelled, stored, and cleaned after the class
* Record members firing costs, and assist with basic queries
* Email clients about collection of course work and taster pots
* Assist customers in the shop with purchasing items and class queries
Skills & Experience (Essential)
* Experience using clay, including
throwing on the pottery wheel
* Strong
communication and time-management skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team
* Comfortable liaising with teachers to prep for lessons and ensure timely firings
* Punctual, reliable, and great with people of all ages
* Ability to follow and mix glazes using specific recipes and following our safety guides
* Basic
IT skills
– sending emails, labelling and digital communication
