The Home Longfield Care Home is situated on the outskirts of the Village of Eglinton, ten miles from the city of Derry. Longfield Care Home accommodates 35 General Nursing residents in the Foyle and Faughan Units, and 11 Residential Dementia residents in the Moore Suite. The Home received two awards at the 2024 Staff Nursing Awards: the Home Manager was highly commended in the Home Manager of the Year category, and our Team Leader won the Care Assistant of the Year award.
Role - Maternity Cover
The Senior Care Assistant role is part of a dedicated team essential to the daily operations of the Home. This leadership role involves working closely with the care team to lead shifts and manage medication, providing high-quality care and support in a warm, safe environment. Senior Care Assistants deliver personalized care, emotional support, and foster meaningful relationships, advocating for residents' rights and preferences.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide direct care and support with activities of daily living, personal care, and mobility, following individual care plans and resident preferences.
* Monitor residents' wellbeing, promptly referring any unusual physical, mental, or emotional occurrences to senior staff or the primary nurse, and documenting appropriately.
* Manage and allocate work for care assistants.
* Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents, colleagues, and visitors, responding promptly and courteously to requests and inquiries.
* Administer and manage medication, conduct medication audits, and ensure proper storage in line with regulatory requirements.
* Undertake any other duties reasonably assigned by the Home Manager.

Required Criteria
* Experience with medication management in a care setting
* The right to work in the UK
* Educated to GCSE/NVQ Level 3 or above (or similar), with good English skills
* Previous care experience

* Experience supervising staff

Salary: £13.50 per hour
