We are looking for a Salaried GP to join our enhanced primary care service at HMP Liverpool. The role involves delivering comprehensive care, leading clinical governance, and working in a unique setting with high professional challenge.

What you'll do
* Lead GP clinics – manage full range of primary care presentations, from chronic disease to acute illness.
* Provide clinical supervision – oversee Non‑Medical Prescribers and support the substance misuse service.
* Deliver urgent care – respond to acute and urgent wing‑based visits.
* Support new arrivals – assess and prescribe for new patients, including managing detoxification medications.
* Manage complex cases – provide clinical oversight for patients with multiple comorbidities.
* Lead clinical governance – take responsibility for safeguarding, governance processes.
* Drive quality improvement – engage in audits and quality improvement projects.
* Work in partnership – collaborate with the Lead GP to ensure safe, effective practice.
Qualifications
Essential
* Medical degree recognised by the General Medical Council
* Full GMC Registration
* MRCGP CCT or equivalent
* Recognised Certificate of Vocational Training or equivalent JCTGP
* Evidence of ongoing professional development in relevant clinical and service improvement areas
Desirable
* RCGP Certificate Part 1 and 2 – Substance Misuse
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* Primary Care and Mental Health
* Drug and alcohol awareness
* Chronic disease management
* Understanding of current health and social policy, particularly offender health
* Understanding of clinical risk management and governance
* Principles of substance misuse treatment and pharmacotherapy
Desirable
* Understanding of principles & research
* Broad knowledge in and outside this specialist area
* Knowledge of NHS clinical governance, GP contracts, medicines management, financial management
* Up‑to‑date on new GP and pharmacy contracts
