Maintenance Engineer (Permanent Role)

4 on / 4 off shift pattern - 06:00 to 18:00 (+ Overtime available)
Starting Salary: £40,000 P.A
About the Role
We're partnering with our client, based in Kettering, to recruit a Maintenance Engineer. Reporting directly to the Facilities and H&S Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that all production machinery and systems operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with experience in the waste recycling or plastics recycling sector to join a growing and supportive business.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all plant equipment and machinery.
Conduct daily checks and inspections on production machinery, ensuring all equipment is safe and functional.
Diagnose faults and respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise production downtime.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work using the company's electronic management system.
Manage an inventory of spare parts, ensuring critical components are available when required.
Report any misuse or damage of machinery to the Facilities and H&S Manager.
Complete detailed handover between shifts to ensure the continuity of maintenance operations
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a waste or plastics recycling environment.
Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical discipline).
Knowledge of optical sorters, ballistic separators, and conveyor systems is highly desirable.
A strong sense of urgency to resolve technical issues effectively.
A proactive "can-do" attitude, able to stay calm under pressure.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team using initiative and sound judgement
