Security Officer
Hours: Option A: Full time (37 hours per week, all year round).
Option B: Full time, term time only (45 hours per week, 36 weeks worked).
Duration: Permanent.
Salary: Circa £25,716 per annum + benefits.
Location: Rotherham College, Rotherham.
About the Role
As a Security Officer for RNN Group (a Further Education and Training Provider in South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire), you will work within an educational environment, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of learners, staff, and visitors within the campus. You will help maintain a secure and conducive atmosphere to promote learning by monitoring college buildings/grounds, enforcing regulations, and responding to emergencies.
Your duties will involve engaging with learners, patrolling premises/grounds, monitoring CCTV, managing access points, and providing a visible presence to deter and respond to potential security threats/issues. You will support staff in managing student behaviour by promoting positive conduct, de-escalating conflicts, and assisting in supervising vulnerable learners in communal areas, including moving learners from campus spaces into classrooms.
Ultimately, you will ensure that the Group's buildings are a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors within the campus. Positions are available at all main college campuses.
Responsibilities
* Experience in security guarding, dealing with the public in retail or public sector environments.
* Experience with large intruder and fire alarm systems and CCTV monitoring.
* Carrying out first aid (evidence required).
* Holding a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or willingness to undertake).
* Having a SIA license (or equivalent) and a recent first aid at work certificate, including relevant health & safety training.
Department Info
This shift-based role requires physical activity and quick emergency response, including running or climbing stairs. You will work as part of the Estates and Facilities department, liaising with colleagues and reporting to the Security Manager.
