We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity.
From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution - because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.
As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research - designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.
Take the next step in your career.
The role
We’re seeking a Linux Engineer to build, maintain and evolve the Linux platforms (RHEL and Ubuntu) that underpin our compute environment.
You will work across the full Linux stack — from OS builds and provisioning systems through to observability, security and custom tooling — ensuring the platform is consistent, scalable and secure.
This role offers the opportunity to develop deep technical expertise in Linux internals, automation frameworks and performance optimisation while contributing directly to the infrastructure that powers cutting-edge quantitative research.
We’re looking for an experienced Linux Engineer to help design, build and operate our core Linux platform, supporting critical research and infrastructure systems.
What you’ll do:
* Build, release and maintain RHEL and Ubuntu OS images
* Develop and operate provisioning and lifecycle management systems (PXE, kickstart, cloud-init, image management)
* Design and maintain APIs, databases and package tooling used firmwide
* Apply Infrastructure as Code (Ansible) and CI/CD automation to streamline deployment and release
* Lead Linux security initiatives – hardening, patching and compliance automation
* Enhance observability and telemetry for OS health and performance
* Collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, scalable and secure Linux services
Who are we looking for?
* Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu) and deep knowledge of internals (kernel, boot process, filesystems, package management)
* Experience with performance tuning and kernel optimisation (scheduler, memory, I/O)
* Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible) and DevOps workflows
* Familiarity with provisioning technologies (PXE, kickstart, cloud-init)
* Understanding of Linux security, compliance and observability (eBPF experience a plus)
* Collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills
Why should you apply?
* Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
* Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
* 30 days’ annual leave
* 9% company pension contributions
* Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
* Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
* Cycle-to-work scheme
* Monthly company events
