Band 2 Catering Operative

As a Catering Stores Operative, you will play a vital role in supporting the catering team by managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of food and kitchen supplies. You will ensure that all stock is handled efficiently, stored safely, and issued accurately to meet the needs of the kitchen and service areas. This role requires strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety. You will work closely with chefs, delivery drivers, and other team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the catering stores environment.
Main duties of the job
-checking and sign of incoming goods
-inspect delivery for quality, quantity and condition
-lifting and staking items in the chiller, freezer and ambient areas
-rotate stock to ensure first -in ,first-out (FIFO) usage
-monitor expiry dates and report discrepancies
-maintain cleanliness and organisation of storage areas
-distribute ingredients and supplies to the kitchen and service area as requested
-Follow food hygiene and safety regulations (HACCP)
-Ensure temperature checks and cleaning schedules are completed
-Records and report waste as required
-report stock shortages or issued promptly
