Salary & Benefits

Salary between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (DOE and qualifications). 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, retail and leisure discounts, professional and personal development opportunities, access to college courses. (Note: salary and annual leave entitlement are for that of a qualified lecturer.)


Hours & Contract

37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year. Permanent – Full time.

About The Role

We are currently seeking a lecturer in motor vehicle to join our motor vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.

As a lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Teaching, delivery & learner development – Deliver engaging, up‑to‑date sessions that build life skills and motor‑vehicle knowledge (levels 1‑3), using practical, real‑world learning to support progression and learner success.
* Planning, curriculum & resource preparation – Plan schemes of work, design differentiated lessons, prepare resources, organise work experience and ensure learning activities fully meet curriculum and awarding‑body requirements.
* Classroom management, assessment & feedback – Maintain a safe learning environment, manage behaviour, monitor attendance, set clear objectives, assess learning through assignments and workplace visits, and provide constructive feedback to enhance learner progress.
* Quality, pastoral support & professional duties – Complete administrative tasks, contribute to course development, attend team meetings, support pastoral needs, participate in marketing/engagement events and refer learners to specialist services when needed.
* Professional standards, compliance & development – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and data‑protection requirements; engage in CPD; maintain awareness of sector developments; and work towards required qualifications (QTLS‑equivalent teaching qualification, level 2 English/maths, assessor award if not already held).


About You

* Qualifications & vocational expertise – Level 2 English and maths, level 3 subject‑relevant qualification, assessor award (or willingness to achieve), with up‑to‑date industry‑standard vocational skills and experience in the relevant sector.
* Teaching skills & delivery approaches – Able to teach across a range of vocational areas and learner levels using varied teaching methods, incorporating the latest industry technology and applying strong health & safety knowledge.
* Quality assurance & professional knowledge – Up‑to‑date understanding of industry QA systems, reflective practice, excellent organisational and time‑management skills and commitment to maintaining current expertise in the specialism.
* Interpersonal skills & learner motivation – Strong communication and interpersonal ability, able to motivate and inspire learners, work effectively as part of a team and deliver learning through multiple modes.
* Safeguarding, flexibility & continuous development – Committed to safeguarding and maintaining appropriate boundaries, willing to update skills continuously, work flexibly across locations and uphold all relevant health & safety requirements.

Tresham College has three main sites in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, each with impressive modern buildings.
