About the role:
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Travel and Tourism to join our Sport, Public Service and Travel department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Teaching & Learning Delivery – Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across a range of programmes and levels, using diverse media and up-to-date subject knowledge to meet individual student needs.
2. Student Support & Progress – Guide students to achieve their potential through effective monitoring, feedback, and the integration of vocational opportunities like work experience and employer links.
3. Curriculum & Quality Development – Contribute to curriculum innovation, course reviews, and quality assurance processes, ensuring learning environments are inclusive, safe, and aligned with awarding body standards.
4. Administration & Collaboration – Complete course-related administration accurately and on time, participate in team meetings, and support recruitment through interviews and assessments.
5. Promotion & Compliance – Represent the programme area at events, uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety standards, and engage in ongoing professional development.
About you:
6. Qualifications & Industry Experience – Degree in Travel and Tourism (or related subject), GCSEs in English and Maths, and recent experience in the travel industry and teaching across Levels 1–3.
7. Teaching & Assessment Skills – Proven ability to deliver engaging lessons, assess across awarding bodies, and adapt teaching to meet diverse learner needs in both group and individual settings.
8. Professional Values & Conduct – Demonstrates alignment with values of student focus, high performance, and integrity; maintains professionalism and promotes the college’s reputation.
9. Communication & Collaboration – Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in teams, meet deadlines, and communicate confidently across various platforms.
10. Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality, and continuous development; flexible in working hours and locations, with a readiness to travel and adapt to changing demands.
