AdultSocial Care in the City of York has a clear vision, which lays out a newly developed practice framework, supporting high-quality social work by providing clear expectations within which a consistent approach can be applied. Our practice framework has been developed to support practitioners to use their professional judgement and curiosity, collating the tools, support and guidance practitioners require. We want to empower our staff with an ethos of being flexible and adaptable so we can work inclusively and creatively with our communities.
The Adult Social & Community Team are a friendly and supportive service working with individuals with physical and sensory impairments from all over the district. We are based in a beautiful grade II listed building in the centre of York opposite the train station.
Our office provides modern facilities including onsite subsidised café and wonderful views of the world-famous Roman City walls.

Within the Adult Social Care and Community Team we are recruiting for experienced social workers with a passion to make a difference to the lives of people in York. We are the largest adult social work team in the City of York Council and include several specialist areas including - Long Term Team, Duty Team, Review Team, Continuing Health Care Team, and Carer Specialist Team. This diversity will allow you to advance upon your existing skillset by providing lots of different development opportunities. If you join us, you will play an important role in shaping the social work model in our service and provide a crucial mentorship role for our ASYEs.
To apply you will need a degree in Social Work and be registered with Social Work England (SWE). Currently we are not licenced to sponsor employees for visas, therefore are unable to offer sponsorship for these roles.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
