Key Responsibilities of a SEN Learning Support Assistant
As a Committed SEN Learning Support Assistant, You Will
* Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group interventions
* Support pupils with PMLD, MLD, ASD, and physical disabilities, using tools like visual aids, sensory resources, and communication systems
* Assist with personal care tasks including toileting, feeding, hoisting, and mobility support with dignity and sensitivity
* Monitor progress, support therapy-led activities, and contribute to EHCPs
* Promote positive behaviour and independence within a nurturing and safe classroom environment
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and families
What We're Looking For
To succeed as a SEN Learning Support Assistant in Aylesbury, you should have:
* Experience working with children with SEND, especially PMLD, MLD, ASD, and physical disabilities
* Confidence supporting children with personal care and physical assistance needs
* Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to meet individual learning and care needs
* A calm and positive manner when handling challenging behaviours
* Understanding of communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory-based methods
