Job Description

Working within the Public Safety business, you will be responsible for defining the policies and standards that guide technology delivery, possessing significant experience in modern, cloud based technology standards and practices.
As Solution Architect, you are accountable for leading a team of architects and providing architectural design and technology roadmaps for complex Policing and National Security applications supporting high volume, mission critical products and services. There will also be opportunities to oversee ongoing architectural needs within our Control Room application suites.
Youll work hand in hand with our Product Managers, Delivery and Technical Leads to influence and define a technology roadmap to meet both our commercial and technology aims.
The core aim of this role is to provide technical assurance to ensure successful deployment of NECSWS Public Safety products into clients while protecting our commercial position.
To succeed, you should be able to mediate between people and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, particularly with stakeholders at all levels. Understanding the evolutionary nature of technology delivery in an agile environment is essential. Our stakeholder expectations are high, so facilitation of discussions about high risk and complexity within constrained timescales is required.
The Solution Architect will collaborate with the project or programme manager and the wider architecture team to:
1. Ensure that scope of supply is correctly documented and maintained
2. Identify and manage technical project risks
3. Ensure that any non-functional requirements from a customer are agreed and documented
4. Ensure impact assessments are practical, well-defined, and leverage existing products where possible
5. Identify opportunities for selling additional product capability
Qualifications
You will have a good understanding/awareness of:
* C++
* C#
* SQL Server
* Windows platforms
* Domains / AD
* Mitel skills based routing integration
And good practical knowledge of some or all of the following:
* C coding
* SIP protocol
* VOIP – RTP / RTCP including latency / jitter handling
You will also have in-depth knowledge of some or all of the following:
* Tetra network behaviors – specifically Motorola Dimetra
* 3GPP network behaviors – related to Kodiak MCX but should be standard
* MCX API usage of Softil SDK
* Analogue Radio base stations and features – VHF, MF
* Telephone PABX functionality
* Airwave certification processes
* EISEC service
The Solution Architect will manage relationships with customer technical staff and support the bid process including technical responses, infrastructure sizing (mainly cloud-based), and clarification support.
This role also involves promoting and leading the architectural vision within the architecture team and across wider technology and business teams.
