Faculty
The School of Social Sciences has a strong record in teaching and research across sociology, criminology, psychology, social work, and peace and development studies. The Department of Sociology and Criminology contributes significantly to the university's REF submission.
We seek to appoint, initially on a temporary basis (fixed for 12 months, then three years), a motivated and enthusiastic Lecturer in Criminology. The successful candidate will work with a team of skilled academics to strengthen the department's offerings.
What you will be doing:
Contributing to existing degree programs, including Foundation Year and undergraduate degrees.
Qualifications/Experience:
1. Holding or near completion of a PhD in Criminology or a related field, or demonstrating disciplinary expertise through research outputs.
2. Proven ability to deliver excellent, research-informed teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with an interest in doctoral supervision.
3. Evidence of scholarship in Criminology and experience in communicating social scientific content to non-academic audiences.
4. Applicants from all Criminology specialisms are welcome, especially those with expertise in Employability, Social Inequalities, Crime and Race, Cybercrime, Organized Crime, Policing, Punishment, or Quantitative/Digital Methodologies.
