About The Role
We are Balfour Beatty, one of the UK’s largest construction companies building iconic buildings and structures that will stand for years to come.
What You’ll Be Doing
From the Highlands to the Islands, our teams are delivering nationally significant power infrastructure to connect renewables, strengthen resilience and support the Pathway to 2030.
As a Graduate Civil Engineer, your job will help plan and build vital infrastructure like substations, including the delivery of overhead lines and underground cables.
You’ll work on‑site, learning how to support the delivery of energy projects. These are multi‑year projects with stable work pipelines, opportunities for progression and the chance to partner closely with major clients.
You will gain hands‑on experience in design, installation, and maintenance, while ensuring all works meet technical standards and safety requirements.
Who We’re Looking For
For graduates with a degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (BEng or MEng), our programme offers formal training and on‑the‑job learning, with a strong focus on career progression and growth opportunities.
It’s designed to help you transition into your chosen field and build a successful career path. To be eligible, you must obtain a minimum 2:2 Honours degree before starting the role.
This role is based on site and requires travel on‑site and between locations. Before joining Balfour Beatty, you must hold a full UK driver’s licence. You may be working away from home, where reasonable travel and accommodation expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
Offers for this position may be subject to pre‑employment checks and a security check. This may be a Basic DBS/BPSS check.
Why Work For Us
Kickstart your career at Balfour Beatty, where you’ll join our Early Careers Development programme and receive tailored support from day one. This is a two‑year programme, where you will work on collaboration, teamwork, and leadership skills.
You might also have the opportunity to work towards a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.
You’ll join a community of like‑minded individuals whilst developing essential career and life skills.
Alongside a great salary and benefits package, you’ll gain invaluable experience and skills that pave the way for exciting opportunities and career progression. This is more than just a job – it’s a pathway to a promising future.
