Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering excellent service including running nurse clinics. This position requires a strong understanding of veterinary practices, as well as proficiency in laboratory procedures. Pay will be commensurate with experience. Hours will be over 2 days plus 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. No routine OOH. Pay is calculated hourly to ensure you are paid for every moment you work and includes lunchtime.
Responsibilities
* Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
* Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
* Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate records.
* Monitor animal patients pre- and post-operatively, observing vital signs and reporting any changes.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the clinic, including sterilisation of instruments and equipment.
* Provide education to pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and health maintenance for their animals.
* Run and manage nurse clinics
* Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations or treatments.
* Assist with the management of inventory, ensuring that medical supplies are adequately stocked.
* Assist with administration and reception duties when required and during holiday cover
* Help us maintain our Green Investors in the Environment status by adhering to and contributing to our sustainability protocols.
Requirements
* Qualified Veterinary Nurse with RVN status.
* Experience in a veterinary practice is preferred but not essential; new graduates are welcome to apply.
* Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is advantageous.
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Compassionate nature with a genuine love for animals and their welfare.
* Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
* Some flexibility in cover for staff holidays
