Post Title: Care Assistant
Reports To: Registered Nurse, Senior Care Assistant, Care Home Manager, Deputy Manager
Responsibilities
* Maintain effective communication and liaison with the Crown Care Group home manager, deputy manager, registered nurse and senior carer to ensure the smooth, safe, effective, responsive and caring operation of the residential care unit.
* Promote and display a professional image commensurate with the high standards of the Crown Care Group.
* Take responsibility as the prime carer to provide for one or a defined group of service users, continually assessing, developing and evaluating programmes of care.
* Provide a high standard of individualised social care, enabling service users’ quality of life to be maximised in a caring, supportive, friendly, safe and high quality environment.
* In conjunction with the wider care team, adhere to the residential care unit’s philosophies and goals and statement of purpose.
* Assist with improving, developing and maintaining the business objectives of the residential care unit.

Compliance
* To comply with the Health and Social Care (Safety and Quality) Act 2015, including NICE guidelines, fire safety regulations, COSHH regulations, RIDDOR, food safety, first aid, moving and handling regulations and regulatory requirements for medical equipment and devices.
* All employees must respect confidentiality related to the business, service users and their families, in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
* Be aware of responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and follow safe working practices at all times.
* Fully comply with Crown Care policies and procedures.
* Uphold and promote the privacy, dignity, independence, safety and welfare of all service users, in line with Crown Care Group expectations.
* Ensure the standards of the Care Quality Commission and Local Authority Contracts specifications and safeguarding regulations and principles are upheld.
* Ensure Quality Assurance documentation is completed as per the Crown Care quality framework audit tool.
* Maintain own professional and clinical knowledge and apply it within the scope of your role.
* Display a professional attitude and encourage professional relationships with all staff levels.
Service User Care
* Assist service users with all aspects of personal hygiene.
* Provide help with the use of care aids and equipment to support residents’ needs in mobility, incontinence and other medical, physical, emotional or mental health issues.
* Provide safe, effective, responsive and palliative end-of-life care when required.
* Support the programme of social care and social activities for all service users.
* Report changes in health or circumstances of a service user to senior staff immediately.
* Document and report all accidents and incidents involving service users, staff or visitors.
* Work as part of a team to encourage residents to remain as independent as possible.
* Act as key worker to a small group of residents.
General Duties
* Make and change beds; tidy rooms.
* Promote a high standard of dining experience: set tables and trays, serve meals, and assist residents with meals as needed.
* Answer emergency bells promptly.
* Be welcoming and courteous when answering the door and the telephone, taking contact details and accurate messages.
* Liaise with residents, visitors and families in a warm, considerate manner.
* Follow fire safety instructions when required.
* Attend all staff meetings and compulsory training, as directed.
* Support the Activities Co-ordinator to carry out daily activities programmes.
* Perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Additional Duties
* Undertake any work-related training to fulfil your role and any professional CPD requirements.

* Work towards NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care.

* Ideally have experience within the care industry.

* Ability to work as part of a team.
