Come and join us
We're looking for people who share our values (compassion, accountability and optimism) to help us provide high quality care to the patients, carers, families and local communities we serve. We specialise in providing NHS mental health and learning disability services.
So what can we offer you in return?
We're an organisation which puts people first. We'll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. We'll help you learn, acquire new skills and gain further experience to support your career development. And we'll provide the opportunity for you to bring your fresh ideas to work about how we can do things differently and continue improving.
You will also be joining a health and care system committed to working together to do the best we can for the communities we serve. Above all, at Sussex Partnership you'll have the chance to make a difference to the lives of the patients, carers and families across our communities.
As a Trust we are committed in making a difference. Your development is important to us, so don't forget to ask us during interview what opportunities we can offer. We can offer fully funded lifelong learning opportunities such as an apprenticeship from GCSE to Masters level.
If you like the sound of that, then come and join our team.
Job Overview
Are you a registered mental health nurse with a passion for working with severe mental illness in a recovery focused way? Are you looking to join a highly supportive service that embraces a team-approach to working?
We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and passionate MH Nurse to join the Community Rehabilitation Service (Bognor Regis Hub). You will specialise in supporting people who have experienced complex psychosis, treatment resistant psychosis, or a related significant mental illness as described in the NICE guidelines for Rehabilitation. You will also contribute to the development of evidence based and recovery focused interventions to maximise people's independence and enable people to lead fulfilling lives.
We are looking for a MH Nurse who is passionate about change and development. This vacancy is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 practitioner; however we will offer a Band 5 to 6 development post to the right candidate. It is advantageous for you to have experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems, and we also welcome those with some experience of working with older adults, as the service is for adults of all ages.
This post is for 30hrs per week, ideally to include Thursdays and Fridays for weekly team meetings and to ensure nursing cover across the week. We are open to discussing flexible working requirements within the 30hrs, to ensure we best support the recruitment and future retention of our staff.
Main duties of the job
You will hold a small caseload of service users who are cared for within a recovery focused model of care as part of a wider MDT. There will also be excellent opportunities for Mental Health Nurses to undertake training and deliver specific evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Intervention work, and to contribute a nursing perspective to multi-disciplinary discussion and care planning. The service operates a Duty system, which you will also share with colleagues as part of your role.
Evidence shows that people who are treated in the community and in the least restrictive way have better outcomes. In this role you will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, to help us to provide this opportunity for the communities of West Sussex in line with the national agenda of 'Getting It Right First Time' to have access to a whole system approach to recovery from mental ill health, maximising an individual's quality of life and social inclusion.
This post offers the Trust's £2,000 Golden Hello or Relocation Incentive for Band 6 Nurses & Practitioners, (pro rata and subject to terms and conditions; please see attached Protocol Document for full details).
Working for our organisation
SPFT Nursing strategy has a focus on patient safety, promoting staff wellbeing, developing career pathways, continuing professional development, and improving quality. As a community nurse in the Coastal area you will have access to nursing networks and peer support. We are a training team and would be looking for you to actively support & develop our learners, nursing associates & student nurses.
Our vision is to provide outstanding care and treatment; the people we employ are at the heart of making this vision a reality. If you've got the passion, the belief, the drive and the talent to help us achieve our vision, and are keen to join a service that embodies team working, then we would like to hear from you.
We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, options for home-working, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Effective communication, a sound clinical knowledge base, and a commitment to caring for service users in the community must be demonstrated. You must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
This post will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to develop their career. This is a supportive team where you will be offered mentorship and supervision from senior colleagues, and management support. The community rehabilitation service will also actively support your continuing professional development.
