Role Overview We are seeking a proactive IT Infrastructure Project Engineer to oversee the planning and delivery of IT infrastructure projects and to serve as a key escalation point for high-priority technical issues. This hybrid role blends project management responsibilities with deep technical involvement in infrastructure, cloud, and network environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in managing technical projects, handling third-line support escalations, and working across cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are delivered efficiently, securely, and in alignment with business goals. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes, timelines, deliverables, and resource needs. Create and maintain detailed project plans including task lists, risk registers, budgets, and schedules. Act as the lead for the execution of IT infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery against scope and timescales. Monitor project status, resolve risks or roadblocks, and report progress to stakeholders. Lead project meetings and workshops to drive engagement and alignment. Serve as an escalation point for significant infrastructure incidents and technical challenges. Support organisational change management and user adoption during project rollouts. Maintain up-to-date project documentation, including plans, reports, guides, and change logs. Technical Involvement Provide hands-on support and strategic input in the design, deployment, and operation of IT infrastructure, cloud, and networking systems. Assist in the physical and remote deployment of new hardware, software, and system upgrades. Handle complex third-line infrastructure troubleshooting and escalate as appropriate. Follow and promote change control and best-practice processes. Technical Expertise (Preferred) Experience with relevant technologies, such as: Microsoft (including M365, Azure AD, Exchange, MFA, Security Policies) VMware & Hyper-V virtualisation platforms Network and security equipment (Switches, Firewalls, Routers e.g., Aruba, WatchGuard, DrayTek) Server hardware from vendors like HP Backup and disaster recovery tools (Veeam) Active Directory administration across multi-site environments Wi-Fi and LAN/WAN infrastructure Required Skills and Experience At least 5 years of experience delivering and supporting diverse IT infrastructure solutions. Proven ability to manage multiple IT projects, often concurrently. Strong understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, networking, and cloud services. Solid experience in project tracking and delivery using project management tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset. Well-organised, with effective time management and prioritisation capabilities. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or similar methodologies is advantageous.
