Make a difference every day by helping young people build the skills they need for life and work. Our partner school in Doncaster is looking for a Vocational Studies Teacher to inspire and support students as they gain confidence and practical knowledge that prepares them for their future.
Since opening in 2013, our partner school has provided a safe, supportive environment for pupils aged 14 - 16 who have faced, or are at risk of, permanent exclusion due to challenging behaviours. Through a personalised curriculum, we help students re-engage with education and discover their potential. Our friendly, dedicated team delivers a wide range of academic and vocational pathways, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
As a vocational studies teacher, you'll focus on hands-on, career-oriented skills that bridge the gap between school and the workplace. Depending on your expertise, this could include:
Trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, construction, painting, or automotive repair
Technical skills including IT, digital media, coding, or engineering technology
Service industry skills like hospitality, culinary arts, childcare, health and social care, or hair and beauty
Business and office skills such as bookkeeping, entrepreneurship, and administration
Workplace readiness, including CV writing, interview preparation, time management, and workplace safety

Key responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons to small groups or individual learners
Prepare resources and ensure equipment is used safely
Support students to develop independence, confidence, and employability skills
Manage behaviour positively and maintain open communication with parents and carers
Requirements:
Experience teaching vocational subjects or delivering hands-on skills training
A genuine commitment to supporting students with SEND
At least two years' experience in a SEND or alternative education setting
QTS or QTLS is desirable but not essential
