About
As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. The RN practices within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Scope and Standards, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role emphasizes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
1. Standards of Practice: Follow the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver competent nursing care.
2. Standards of Professional Performance: Engage in ethical practice, cultural competence, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, ongoing education, evidence-based practice, resource utilization, and environmental health, demonstrating professional accountability.
Qualifications
Education
Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
Experience
All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program.
Licensure
Current RN license in Connecticut; specialty certification encouraged.
Physical Demands
Prolonged standing, walking, and use of senses; exposure to infectious diseases; physical, mental, and emotional stress; ability to assist with patient handling up to 300 pounds.
Additional Information
EP 7-5 is a 27-bed specialty unit focusing on acute and chronic kidney diseases, including peritoneal dialysis.
