Portfolio Credit Control are currently partnered with a reputable professional services business who are currently looking to strengthen the Credit Control function with a pre-litigation Credit Controller to tackle overdue and complex accounts within a high volume, fast paced environment, working alongside a supportive and collaborative team.\n\nThe role\n\nAs a pre-litigation credit controller, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of overdue accounts and working with clients to secure payment before legal proceedings are commenced. You will play a key role in reducing aged debt, handling disputes and supporting the business in achieving cash collection targets. This role requires a firm but fair approach to debt recovery, strong negotiation skills and excellent customer service.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProactively manage and recover overdue debt in line with company credit policy.\nEngage with clients by phone and email to secure payment arrangements and resolve queries\nWork closely with internal departments (sales, customer service, legal) to resolve account queries and reach full resolution\nEscalate non-payment cases for legal action, supplying accurate case notes and supporting documentation\nMaintain accurate records of all collection activity in the payment CRM/case management system.\nRegularly monitor and report on account statuses and payment trends.\nSupport monthly cash collection targets and contribute to reducing at-risk (aged debt) accounts.Required Skills and Experience\n\nProven experience in credit control, debt recovery, or collections - ideally in a pre-litigation or legal environment\nStrong communication and negotiation skills\nAbility to manage challenging conversations with empathy and professionalism\nFamiliarity with pre-litigation processes and knowledge of UK debt recovery procedures\nHighly organised with good attention to detail and record-keeping\nStrong IT skills including MS Office and CRM systems\nExperience working to KPI's and within a fast-paced, target-driven environmentSalary \n\n£26-28k per annum, depending on experience, plus Commission package\n\n50135BR\n\nINDCC
