Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Skilled Manual Machinist role based in the Greater Southampton Area. The role involves operating and maintaining manual machines such as lathes, mills, EDMs and grinders to produce and repair precision components. Daily tasks include setting up machines, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, performing quality checks, and adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards. The machinist will also collaborate with engineers and other team members to meet production and project deadlines effectively.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in operating and maintaining manual machining equipment including lathes, mills, and grinders.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
* Experience with precision measurements and quality control tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
* Knowledge of material properties, machining techniques, and heat-treatment processes.
* Strong adherence to safety standards, regulatory compliance, and operational protocols.
* Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machinery and production processes.
* Effective team communication skills and time management abilities.
* Relevant vocational training or certifications; an apprenticeship or advanced machine shop training is a plus.
