Data centre engineer

Birchwell Associates is recruiting on behalf of a leading data centre operator for a Data Centre Engineer to join a modern South Manchester facility.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role supporting critical IT infrastructure within a live data centre environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Day-to-day support of data centre operations

* Managing incidents and requests via helpdesk, phone, and email

* Installing racks, servers, networking equipment, and structured cabling

* Monitoring infrastructure and BMS systems

* Delivering remote hands support to customers

* Supporting new deployments and infrastructure changes

* Handling deliveries and general data centre logistics

Skills & Experience
* Experience working in a data centre or critical environment

* Strong understanding of server hardware and structured cabling

* Familiarity with ticketing/helpdesk systems

* Good general IT and Microsoft Office skills

* Customer-focused with strong communication skills

Additional Requirements
* Must live within 30 minutes of South Manchester site

* Participation in 1-in-3 on-call rota

* Successful security vetting required

* Site-based role
