THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 6 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Swansea Bay University Health Board for a dietitian to join the Public Health Dietetics team.

This post is fixed term until 30th September 2026, to support the delivery of accredited education programmes including the Food and Fun programme.

Main duties of the job

The team focus on health promotion and prevention, to improve the health and wellbeing of local people and future generations. The team works with partners to build the capacity of communities, working through our Nutrition Skills for Life programmes to support healthy lifestyles and prevent malnutrition. Our aim is to equip community-based staff with evidence-based food and nutrition knowledge and skills, so they can incorporate key nutrition messages into their work.

The post holder will have an interest in both Public Health and working with communities. You will be an excellent communicator and experience of assessment and quality assurance would be helpful.

Person specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

1. B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
2. HCPC Registered
3. Post registration training in relevant area
4. Knowledge of current reports and publications underpinning this post.
5. Knowledge of relevant policies/strategies in public health and community weight management.

Experience

Essential criteria

6. Experience in public health dietetics.
7. Experience facilitating patient or staff education programmes.
8. Student training experience

Desirable criteria

9. Assessor for Agored Cymru.
10. Experience working with community groups.
11. Experience of working with external partners.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria

12. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
13. Effective teaching skills using a variety of methods to promote adult learning
14. Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
15. Able to respond to unpredictable work patterns and frequent interruptions, prioritising workload in accordance with patient and service need

Other

Essential criteria

16. Able to travel throughout the geographical area covered Swansea Bay University Health Board transporting educational materials and resources, as required and in a timely manner

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
