I am seeking a general manager to oversee one of the region's leading leisure centres, located across two sites. These centres have an excellent local reputation and offer high-quality fitness and swimming facilities, along with outdoor pitches and tennis courts. With significant investment in the gym, there is an excellent opportunity to grow the membership base to 3,000 members, expand the learn-to-swim programme, and build partnerships with schools, summer camp providers, and community groups to increase occupancy of sports pitches and dry side facilities.
We are looking for an inspirational leader with a proven track record as a GM, possessing strong leadership, commercial, and operational skills to elevate this £2m+ turnover business. The successful candidate will coach and support teams to deliver outstanding customer service and operational excellence. Experience in managing similar large local authority leisure centres, private health clubs, or family entertainment centres is preferred. Responsibilities include:
* Ensuring operational excellence across teams.
* Recruiting, coaching, and inspiring managers and staff to deliver exceptional customer service, reflected in NPS scores.
* Achieving financial targets for memberships, learn-to-swim, casual swimming, and pitch bookings.
* Developing partnerships with local schools and community groups.
* Analyzing business performance and trends to maintain business health.
* Achieving Quest accreditation and maintaining high health and safety standards.
The general manager will oversee approximately 50 full and part-time staff, working a mix of shifts during weekdays and one weekend in two.
The position offers a competitive salary of up to £45,500, enrollment in the local government pension scheme, 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, your birthday off, and enhanced maternal/paternal pay benefits.
