<div><p><b>Join a world‑leader in cancer treatment and research.</b></p><p>We are looking for an experienced, motivated, forward‑thinking, ODP/Registered Nurse to work in our Surgical Theatres and Brachytherapy departments on a bank‑only contract. Our oncology theatre suite specializes in colorectal, plastic, urology and gynaecology, including robotic surgery using Da Vinci Xi Robots. This is an adult‑only patient group.</p><p>Successful candidates must have experience as a theatre practitioner in at least one area—anaesthetics, recovery (including level 2 patients) or scrub—and hold a valid NMC or HCPC registration. Supervisor/accessor experience is preferable.</p><p>At The Christie Theatres we see staff health and wellbeing as our underpinning drive in delivering excellent patient care. We seek professional, flexible, motivated, and committed team members capable of delivering high‑quality, patient‑focused care.</p><p>You will be required to work 37.5 hours, flexibly 4 or 5 days over 7 days, with a commitment to out‑of‑hours on‑call.</p><h3>Job responsibilities</h3><p>Education, Leadership and Clinical Practice:</p><ul><li>Participate as a member of the anaesthetic/recovery/scrub theatre team, providing extensive knowledge in the care of peri‑operative patients.</li><li>Demonstrate high standards of individual patient care and a commitment to evidence‑based practice.</li><li>Competently care for the peri‑operative patient, including assessment, planning and evaluation of care programmes.</li><li>Liaise and integrate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.</li><li>Develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships across all clinical grades.</li><li>Ensure proficiency with all medical equipment before use in accordance with trust policy.</li><li>Support audit and evaluation of clinical practice and surgical products to promote quality care.</li><li>Work with senior colleagues to formulate practice development strategies based on audit findings.</li><li>Promote a proactive approach to change and change management.</li><li>Maintain an environment conducive to professional development and take responsibility for own professional development.</li><li>Assist in theoretical and practical instruction of all learners, monitor progress, and act as a clinical role model.</li><li>Ensure correct administration of drugs and treatments in accordance with trust policy.</li><li>Offer help and advice to patients’ relatives and friends in a caring supportive manner.</li><li>Ensure safe use and efficient management of equipment and supplies.</li><li>Maintain cleanliness of the clinical area and computerised patient records as per trust policy.</li><li>Participate in on‑call rota and provide emergency cover during out‑of‑hours and bank holidays.</li><li>Actively participate in quality assurance and risk management initiatives.</li><li>Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation and demonstrate competency with information technology resources.</li></ul><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Registered Nurse with recognised anaesthetic qualification and recovery experience or an Operating Department Practitioner.</li><li>Diploma level education in relevant practice.</li><li>Evidence of ongoing professional development.</li><li>Working towards a degree.</li><li>Mentorship and assessment course completed.</li><li>Willingness to undertake further professional development.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Previous experience within operating theatres.</li><li>Anaesthetic and recovery experience.</li><li>Paediatric experience.</li></ul><h3>Skills</h3><ul><li>Ability to manage time and workload.</li><li>Ability to delegate tasks appropriately.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage and build effective relationships at all levels.</li><li>Ability to work as part of a wider team as well as independently.</li><li>Ability to implement new ideas and concepts.</li><li>Team player with motivation to deliver high standards of patient care.</li><li>Sound decision‑making within role limits.</li><li>IT skills.</li><li>Ability to supervise and support junior staff.</li><li>Evidence of teaching/assessment skills.</li></ul><h3>Knowledge</h3><ul><li>Continuing professional development within existing role.</li><li>Willingness to undertake further study in line with service needs.</li><li>ALS course.</li></ul><h3>Values</h3><ul><li>Demonstration of organisational values and behaviours.</li><li>Promotion of new ideas.</li></ul><h3>Other</h3><ul><li>Commitment to participation within the on‑call rota.</li><li>Innovative and forward‑thinking attitude.</li><li>Enthusiasm and ability to motivate others.</li><li>Positive attitude in uncertain times.</li><li>Polite and respectful communication, putting patient needs first.</li><li>Positive and flexible attitude to change.</li><li>Responsive to changing patient/service needs.</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check for any previous criminal convictions.</p><p>Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year, pro rata.</p></div>
