About Enterprise Architecture:
Enterprise Architecture is an organization within the Chief Technology Office at American Express and it is a key enabler of the company’s technology strategy. The four pillars of Enterprise Architecture include:
1. Architecture as Code: this pillar owns and operates foundational technologies that are leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise.
2. Architecture as Design: this pillar includes the solution and technical design for transformation programs and business critical projects which need architectural guidance and support.
3. Governance: this pillar is responsible for defining technical standards, and developing innovative tools that automate controls to ensure compliance.
4. Colleague Enablement: this pillar is focused on colleague development, recognition, training, and enterprise outreach.
How will you make an impact in this role?
5. Develop new API frameworks in technologies such as REST and gRPC
6. Build API solutions using rapidly evolving technologies such as Istio and Envoy
7. Help pivot toward serverless, FaaS based architectures
8. Build platforms to help teams across the company quickly deploy B2B and A2A services
9. Evangelize the API engineering transformation at an accelerated pace
10. Collaborate with technology peers and leaders to gain strategic alignment
11. Foster innovation and experimentation
12. Develop new API frameworks, which empower our developer base, and allow us to increase of development velocity
Minimum Qualifications:
13. University or master's degree in computer science or equivalent
14. Proven years of engineering experience, with emphasis on building high volume, highly scalable systems
15. Experience with the following technologies: Linux, Python, JavaScript, REST, Open API, Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy, gRPC, and other Cloud Native technologies
16. A firm understanding of networking principles: DNS, TCP, TLS, HTTP
17. Experience developing architecture and E2E solutions that conform to requirements for privacy, security and compliance
18. The ability to look at code and derive time and space complexity
19. Deep experience with multiple open-source solutions
20. The ability to learn new technologies quickly and teach them to others
