The Role
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care, and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients and is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision. You may be required to demonstrate procedures to and supervise registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses.
The paediatric unit comprises a 24hour triage service, outpatient service, day surgery service as well as an inpatient service. Cover is also provided on a rostered basis to ENT services at Monklands District General Hospital.
The job holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest possible standard of care is delivered to patients, families, carers and significant other. This will be done through assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care while considering issues such as lifestyle, race, gender and culture.
Additional required after 2 years Post registration
The Registered Nurse will direct, coordinate and supervise, where appropriate, the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in relation to patient care and in the absence of the senior charge nurse/team leader, or deputy, the post holder will provide cover to ensure effective operation of the ward /department

1. Registered Childrens Nurse with valid NMC Registration
2. The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
3. Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
4. Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
5. Excellent time management skills
6. Working knowledge of basic information technology

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 Months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Paediatrics within University Hospital Wishaw.
The working pattern for this role: Days/Nights/Weekends on rotational basis
