Job Summary
There is a good opportunity to join the Ultrasound Department at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust as a Trainee Sonographer. We are looking for a highly motivated, hardworking individual who can commit to an intense but highly rewarding training course. Applications are welcome from any health care professional with a 2:1 or above graduate qualification in their area of expertise with at least two years post‑qualification experience. Previous radiographic imaging experience is desirable.
This post will give you the exciting opportunity to undertake a Post‑graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound at the University of the West of England (UWE), whilst receiving full‑time on‑the‑job training. Over the course of the training, you will be fully employed by the Trust and will be expected to meet the requirements of the HCPC, NMC, or GMC registration as a condition of employment.
Main Duties
During this one‑year training post you will receive clinical and academic training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ultrasound to Post‑Graduate Certificate Level. Upon successful completion, you will be qualified as a Sonographer (Ultrasound Practitioner). The post holder is required to hold, or be able to apply for, HCPC, NMC or GMC registration as a condition of employment. You will be employed as a Sonographer thereafter and commit to support completion of a Post‑Graduate Diploma by the end of the second year of employment and a full MSc within five years, subject to continued employment at the Trust.
The Ultrasound Department is spread across the entire Hospital Site with five rooms in Radiology, three in Maternity, two in Gynaecology, one in Rheumatology, one in the Breast Unit and Fertility Centre, and two peripheral Maternity sites at Tidworth Medical Centre and Westminster Memorial Hospital in Shaftesbury. There is also one room in the Community Diagnostic Centre located away from the acute site. We have a mix of Samsung and Canon i700 machines across Radiology and Maternity, supported by two GE Logiq Es. The department provides a wide range of ultrasound investigations covering inpatients, outpatients and one‑stop clinics in Gynaecology, Breast, Rheumatology and Urology, and also provides ultrasound services to the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre.

Job Responsibilities
As a Trainee Sonographer you will:
* Attend and perform ultrasound examinations across all service areas.
* Develop competency in obstetric, gynaecological, breast, rheumatology, urology and spinal ultrasound.
* Participate in team meetings, audits and quality improvement projects.
* Record and report findings accurately and according to statutory and clinical guidelines.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* Undergraduate Degree 2:1 or above in a relevant area.
* HCPC Registration or equivalent.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD relating to statutory regulatory (HCPC) requirements.

* BSc or equivalent.
