The School and Role

A specialist school in Durham is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant with a passion for creating fun and engaging ways to support students. Pupils are aged 8-16 and have Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs, as well as associated needs such as Autism or ADHD. The school focuses on areas where progress can be made, whether emotionally, socially, behaviourally, or academically. The Behaviour Support Assistant will support in small classes, using behaviour management skills to assist pupils in overcoming barriers to learning.


Requirements

* Be confident in behaviour management skills to de-escalate threatening or aggressive behaviour.
* Mentor and engage with students, delivering specifically designed educational packages.
* Be resilient, empathetic, patient, and not take things personally.
* Have relevant experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
