Student Financial Services Representative communicate with students, by phone, email and sometimes virtually, every day. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work with aspiring artists in a world-class city, while honing your professional skills in a dynamic, innovative, and engaging work environment.Responsibilities:* Independently manage a portfolio of continuing students through the financial process* Answer student questions and anticipate financial concerns in a manner that is customer focused. Where necessary, counsel students to ensure financial obligations are honored* Analyze and evaluate student financial need and review funding sources including Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Pell Grant, Direct Loans, Cal Grant, Private Loans, and other financial aid programs* Inform and advise students and parents regarding eligibility and responsibilities of financial aid programs; interpret and explain policies, application procedures and availability of funding from various sources* Review and evaluate required documentation and package awards in accordance with established guidelines; interpret and apply Federal, State, and Institutional regulations to determine and certify student eligibility* Provides assistance in collections and communications regarding student accounts* Counsels students on resolving debt incurred and answers questions about their account* Track all financial aid documents. such as, FAFSA, Entrance Counseling, Stafford/Plus-Promissory notes, Award Notification, Manifesting Stafford Loans and Parent Plus Loan & Promissory Note and Exit Counseling* Keep students informed of their financial aid file and refund status* Run periodic reports prior to and during the term to determine which students have not completed their financial aid file; contact all students with an incomplete file* Checks NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System) and COD (Common Origination and Disbursement) to determine students who previously attended college* Inform and advice students regarding VA benefit eligibility, explain policies and discuss required documentation for certification* Work with other departments on all continuing students who have not completed their financial aid file; contact all students who have not applied for financial aid, have incomplete files, and or have gaps between financial aid and total costsQualifications:* At least one year of financial aid experience preferred* Bachelors Degree preferred* Passionate about student success and higher education* Empathetic, patient, and positive* Excellent phone and written communication skills* Excellent time management and organizational skills* Attention to detail* Able to thrive in a dynamic and deadline-driven environmentThis is an on-site role at 79 New Montgomery, working 8 hours between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday - Friday.Compensation: $24.04 per hourBenefits:Academy of Art University offers full-time employees health insurance, 401k options, paid vacation based on years of service (15 days accrual at start), paid holidays, paid sick leave and a commuter benefit program.
