Responsibilities
* Undertaking teaching at all levels of our taught programmes, including assessment and examinations, contributing towards module design, review and quality assurance mechanisms;
* Providing support and guidance to students, providing timely feedback, acting as an academic personal tutor, resolving issues and/or referring to specialist parties, where appropriate;
* Pursuing and maintaining a record of high-quality publications and original research publications suitable for inclusion in the School's submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF);
* Developing bids for grant capture to underpin high quality research activity and to support a developing research agenda;
* Promoting the integration of your own research area with other research interests within, and, as appropriate, outside the School and Faculty;
* Contributing effectively to the administrative processes and committee structures of the School, Faculty and University;
* Providing research supervision and helping to attract PhD students to the University.

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Digital Design, who can contribute to the design and delivery of research‑led teaching in Digital Design across UG and PGT levels. You will be an innovative and pro‑active academic, who is research active, and engaged in the latest developments of the area. You will have a PhD in either Digital Design, Interaction Design or Human‑Computer Interaction, and a developing record of either research, pedagogy, or commercial and industrial collaboration commensurate with the level of the post. You will have an in depth understanding and relevant personal experience of the relationship between higher education and the industry, both nationally and internationally. Creative, highly motivated and flexible, you will be a committed teacher and outstanding communicator able to contribute to teaching and administrative activities across the School of Design.
You will contribute to a dynamic learning environment and share your knowledge and expertise in Digital Design. You will be forward thinking with excellent digital communication and team working skills, as well as possess the capacity to teach in a multi‑disciplinary environment. This appointment to a role in a dynamic and growing School of Design offers considerable potential for personal initiative and fulfilment.
Qualifications
* A PhD in Digital Design, Interaction Design, Human‑Computer Interaction or a closely related field;
* Expertise and research interests aligned with digital communication, and/or emerging digital design practices, appropriate to the MA Digital Design Futures and BA Graphic and Communication Design;
* Competence in XR technologies (e.g. AR/VR/MR), including an understanding of concepts, workflows, and prototyping tools, sufficient to support teaching and supervision within digitally future‑oriented design curricula;
* A track record of research outputs commensurate with career stage, with publications already completed and a clear indication of future plans and the potential to achieve the very highest standards of research in the field of design and related media fields;
* A developing track record of teaching in a University environment, with an enthusiastic approach to teaching and the ability to interact with students in ways that will enhance the student experience;
* Experience of proactively developing new and innovative teaching and assessment approaches and materials;
* The ability to work with a team of colleagues and to manage commitments in a timely and strategic manner;
* The ability to contribute to management and administrative processes and structures;
* Excellent communication and IT skills to support and enhance teaching and research.
Desirable
* Experience of 3D modelling, designing and developing experiences (e.g. games, virtual tours, immersive spaces).
* Experience of working with gaming engines such as Unity and Unreal.
* Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud with the ability to teach, demonstrate, support, and assess student work using these tools.
