About the RoleWe're hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Operative to join our busy Estates & Facilities team. You'll be responsible for maintaining mechanical systems across our buildings and infrastructure, ensuring everything runs safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
Carry out servicing, fault-finding, inspections, testing, and minor installations.
Support refurbishment projects and system upgrades.
Use CAFM software to manage tasks and update records.
Collaborate with other trades and assist with general maintenance duties.
Liaise with building users and contractors to coordinate access and support inspections.
Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and permits.
Mentor apprentices and support team development.
Carry out other duties as required by the Maintenance Supervisor.
What We're Looking ForEssential:
NVQ Level 3, HNC, A-Level or equivalent in a mechanical trade.
City & Guilds 3345 - Water Regulations & Unvented Hot Water Systems (or equivalent).
Experience in fault diagnosis and technical problem-solving.
Strong understanding of building regulations and health & safety practices.Desirable:
Experience in customer-facing roles.
Familiarity with CAFM/Helpdesk systems.Skills:
Organised and able to prioritise workload.
Strong communication and teamwork.
Willingness to undertake further training.
Additional Information
This is a site-based role with work in plant rooms, ducts, roofs, and other challenging environments.
On-call and out-of-hours work may be required.
PPE and safety equipment will be provided.
