Financial Controller Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Controller to lead our finance operations.
This is a permanent, part-time role (17.5 hours per week) with a hybrid working model, combining on-site and remote work.
* About the Role
* As Financial Controller, you'll oversee the finance, procurement, and student funding teams, ensuring sound financial management and strategic alignment.
* You will play a key role in budgeting, statutory reporting, and process improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead monthly and year-end closures, management accounts, and statutory reporting.
* Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and cashflow reporting.
* Ensure compliance with public sector financial frameworks (SORP, FReM, SPFM).
* Manage relationships with auditors, government bodies, and internal stakeholders.
* Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and internal controls.
* Support and advise managers on financial planning, project costing, and budget ownership.
* Oversee student funding compliance and reporting.
Ideal Candidate
* Fully qualified accountant (CCAB-recognised body or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and public sector accounting.
* Significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
* Demonstrated ability to manage teams and lead cross-organisational projects.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial matters to non-finance staff.
* Experience in education, procurement, VAT, or funding compliance (desirable but not essential).
