We are seeking a confident, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Stoke-on-Trent, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Upper Key Stage 2 and enjoys delivering lessons that challenge, engage, and prepare pupils for the transition to secondary school.

The Role
As a Year 6 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across all curriculum areas. You will promote resilience, independence, and positive learning behaviours while supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional growth. A key part of the role involves preparing pupils for statutory assessments (SATs) and ensuring they are ready for the challenges of secondary school.
You will work closely with teaching assistants, Key Stage 2 colleagues, and senior leaders to maintain consistency and high standards across the year group. Communication with parents and carers is essential to support pupils' learning and progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
* Prepare pupils for SATs and transition to secondary school
* Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners
* Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours
* Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
* Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records
* Collaborate with teaching assistants and Key Stage 2 colleagues
* Communicate regularly with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
* Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school-wide initiatives
* Support extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities
* Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
* Be confident delivering literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects
* Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills
* Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable
* Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing
* Work collaboratively as part of a supportive professional team
