Building Surveyor – Building Pathology & Damp – Netley House. Join our dynamic team as a Building Surveyor specialising in Building Pathology & Damp and contribute to our continued success. We are looking for a dedicated, reliable and proactive Building Surveyor to join our team. You will work on a variety of projects across the UK, from heritage organisations to commercial property managers. You will deliver quality specialist solutions by investigating problems affecting various buildings. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Some travel to client sites throughout the UK (and potentially abroad) is required, so a full UK driving licence is necessary. Overnight stays may be required from time to time.
Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive damp and moisture investigations using specialised techniques and equipment
* Identify sources of dampness, water ingress, condensation issues and related building defects
* Perform thorough building surveys to assess moisture-related problems and their impact on building integrity
* Prepare detailed, evidence-based reports with remedial recommendations, including photographs, sketches and annotated CAD plans
* Provide expert advice to clients on damp prevention, treatment methods and building performance
* Attend client meetings and liaise with design teams and consultants
* Maintain and enhance company quality standards by following procedures and contributing to system development
* Undertake ongoing professional development as directed by the Management team
* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all company and client matters
Qualifications
* Experience in UK construction with knowledge of building design, construction and procurement
* Technical expertise in building pathology with focus on diagnostics, water/moisture movement and remediation techniques
* Strong understanding of building science and environmental science
* Professional qualification in building surveying, construction, or related field
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work at heights in confined spaces and perform physically demanding tasks
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Familiarity with scientific processes and interpretation of statistical or laboratory analysis
* Strong organisational abilities with meticulous attention to detail
* Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Full UK driving licence (essential) for travel to client sites throughout the UK and potentially abroad
Desirable Qualifications
* Certified Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing (CSSW), CSTDB or equivalent demonstrating damp prevention, water management systems, and structural waterproofing techniques
* Other industry training qualifications relating to damp in buildings
* Chartered membership of a relevant professional body
* Academic qualifications in a relevant construction specialty
