The Company
Our client is a well-established manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced production environment. Due to continued investment in their engineering team, they are seeking a Multiskilled Production Engineer to support the maintenance and performance of production equipment across the site.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position will play a key role in delivering a successful engineering maintenance shift by supporting equipment reliability, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and responding effectively to breakdowns.
The role requires a strong electrical bias alongside solid mechanical fault‑finding capability, ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
* Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Diagnose and repair faults across production machinery in a safe and methodical manner.
* Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Carry out preventative maintenance activities to a high standard.
* Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Support breakdown response to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
* Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Conduct electrical machinery audits and ensure safe operation of plant equipment.
* Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Perform root cause analysis and record findings to support long‑term improvements.
* Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance: Identify and implement improvements to equipment performance.
* Operational Support: Work closely with operations teams to resolve equipment issues quickly.
* Operational Support: Contribute to effective shift handovers, ensuring key issues are communicated clearly.
* Operational Support: Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
* Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all engineering work is completed in line with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
* Health, Safety & Compliance: Follow lock‑off/tag‑off procedures and ensure safe working practices are maintained.
* Health, Safety & Compliance: Participate in risk assessments and support a safe working environment.
* Health, Safety & Compliance: Work to strict hygiene and food safety standards when conducting maintenance activities.
* Health, Safety & Compliance: Support the implementation of HACCP principles within engineering practices.
The Person
* Strong electrical fault‑finding ability with supporting mechanical maintenance experience.
* Proven experience maintaining production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
* Methodical approach to preventative maintenance and problem‑solving.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
* Experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
* Understanding of HACCP principles.
