Management Accountant (part time)
Near Tiverton
£40,000 pro rata – 4 days per week
Role Purpose
The Management Accountant will be responsible for producing accurate and timely management information across a small group of businesses. The role supports strategic and operational decision-making by delivering insightful financial analysis, improving financial controls, and working closely with business owners and operational managers.
This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical accounting skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Reporting & Management Accounts
* Prepare monthly management accounts for each business within the group
* Produce consolidated group management reports where required
* Ensure timely and accurate reporting of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
* Investigate and explain variances against budget, forecast, and prior periods
* Assist with preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts and monitor performance
* Provide financial analysis to support pricing, investment, and cost‑control decisions
* Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts
* Support credit control and supplier payment processes
* Assist with year‑end accounts preparation and audit process
* Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
* Work closely with business owners and managers to explain financial results
More about you
* Essential to have proven experience in a management accounting role, ideally within an SME or multi‑entity environment
* Strong knowledge of management accounts, budgeting, and forecasting
* Good understanding of balance sheets, cash flow, and financial controls
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
* Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
* Experience with accounting software – QuickBooks would be desirable.
You will be working in a close‑knit finance function and report into the Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity to have autonomy in your daily duties and add real value to a business.
Due to the location your own transport is advisable.
The role is available on 4 days per week (or 5 shorter days). Initially office based but moving to one day working from home if desired. Remote is not considered.
