Instructor – Mechanical Engineering
Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary: £26,780 – £31,415 per annum, DOE.

About the Role
We are currently seeking an Instructor in Mechanical Engineering to join our Engineering department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities
* Deliver practical hands‑on instruction in fitting, milling, turning and maintenance.
* Assess learner competence and provide constructive feedback.
* Manage workshop environments, maintain equipment and control hazards.
* Prepare practical learning materials and support classroom delivery.
* Carry out verification duties, maintain inventory records and complete administrative tasks.
* Attend team meetings, uphold safeguarding and EDI standards and contribute to a safe, inclusive and high‑performing environment.
About You
* Level 2 qualification in the specialism, GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A–C) and up‑to‑date industry knowledge and workshop safety procedures.
* Willingness to work towards teaching, assessor and verifier qualifications and deliver high‑quality learning experiences.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with young people and diverse groups.
* Proven ability to manage workload independently, meet deadlines and demonstrate high job performance.
* Committed to safeguarding responsibilities, maintain appropriate boundaries and undertake first aid and professional development to support student welfare and safety.
