The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible for the development, management and continuous review of the Divisional Clinical Risk Management Strategy and Policy.
* To develop systems to communicate the clinical risk agenda.
* Encourage collaborative working to improve services.
* To develop, implement and manage robust action plans.
* To produce high quality and accurate reports on clinical risk issues to the Division’s Senior Management Team.
* Provide expert analysis of performance and service redesign.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* NMC Registered Nurse or other appropriate registered health professional; eg Registered Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist
* Educated to Masters level or equivalent level qualification or experience
* Evidence of ongoing post-registration education in a related field; eg enhanced risk assessment skills
* Completion of or committed to completing the WARRN Asking difficult questions train the trainer training
* Up to date knowledge and application of: data protection, patient confidentiality, risk management, health & safety, safeguarding. extensive and up to date working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, knowledge of the principles of change management, demonstrate an understanding and awareness of issues related to lone working
Desirable criteria
* Awareness of treatment modalities for seriously mentally ill, personality disordered and learning disabled patients
* Knowledge of BCUHB policies, procedures and guidelines
Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant post-registration experience
* Managerial/operational experience at senior nurse level
* Experience of understanding complex risk assessments
* Experience in delivering WARRN training
* Experience of undertaking or contributing to Root Cause Analysis of Serious Untoward Incidents
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working within services with a national perspective taking into account national policy and procedural issues
* Experience of undertaking Specialist Risk Awarenes; eg HCR-20, SVR-20 and RSVP

* Proven leadership and management skills. Able to inspire, motivate and to lead a team to achieve excellence
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate. Able to positively challenge teams and individuals

* Able to take strategic decision, using a risk-based approach and specialist knowledge, and demonstrates an understanding of corporate priorities and challenges
* Evidence of analytical skills
* Evidence of excellent organisational skills. Prioritises complex workloads
* Evidence of ability to utilise and develop report writing and database programmes
* Ability to use own initiative in complex situations
