A well-established and growing decentralised energy business is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join its service team in the North West of the UK. The company is a recognised manufacturer and service provider of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, delivering efficient, low-carbon energy solutions to industrial, commercial, and public sector clients across the UK. This role would suit a recently qualified Electrical Engineer, or a junior engineer with experience in power generation, generators, switchgear, or industrial electrical systems who is looking to build a long-term career within the CHP sector. This is a field-based position offering a mix of planned maintenance, reactive fault finding, commissioning support, and technical assistance — backed by an experienced and supportive engineering team. Responsibilities: Travel to customer sites across the North West to support servicing and first-response breakdowns on CHP and engine-based power systems Assist with planned and reactive electrical maintenance, including diagnostics and fault rectification Support senior engineers with commissioning activities and system upgrades Produce clear and detailed service reports, identifying faults and recommended remedial actions Liaise with customers and internal teams to ensure professional and efficient service delivery Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to the wider engineering team Support internal and customer training activities where required Maintain high health & safety standards, including completion of risk assessments and method statements Act as a professional representative of the business on customer sitesRequirements: HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship, or degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline Some practical experience in industrial electrical systems, generators, CHP, switchgear, or control panels Basic electrical fault-finding capability with a willingness to develop advanced diagnostic skills Familiarity with control systems or PLCs (training provided if required) Full UK driving licence Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining strong communication with office-based teams Positive, proactive attitude with strong customer-facing skills Willingness to travel across the North West and occasionally stay away from homePackage & Benefits: Competitive salary, depending on experience £10 per day lunch allowance Company vehicle with optional private use Paid overtime and overnight stay allowances 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Structured training and development programme, including manufacturer-led CHP training Clear progression pathway into Senior Electrical Engineer roles Long-term, stable role within a supportive and technically focused organisationIf you’re a junior electrical engineer looking to develop your career within the growing decentralised energy sector in the North West, this is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist training and long-term progression.
