Wireman – HV Substations & BESS
Location: UK-wide (project-based travel required)

Rate: £250 – £300 per day (DOE)

The Role
We are looking for experienced Wiremen to work on high-voltage substation and BESS projects across the UK. The role involves the installation, glanding, termination and dressing of LV and control cabling within HV substations, supporting projects through construction, testing and commissioning readiness.
This is a hands-on position within safety-critical environments, working closely with Site Managers, Engineers and Commissioning teams.
Key Responsibilities

Installation, glanding and termination of LV control, protection and multicore cables
*
Wiring of panels, marshalling kiosks, control rooms and relay panels
*
Cable pulling, dressing, cleating and containment installation
*
Reading and working from schematics, wiring diagrams and termination schedules
*
Supporting testing and commissioning activities
*
Ensuring all works are carried out in line with RAMS, permits and site procedures
*
Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping
*
Liaising with site supervision and engineering teams to coordinate works
Essential Experience & Skills
*
Proven experience as a Wireman on HV substation projects
*
Strong background in control and protection wiring
*
Experience working in 132kV substations and/or BESS projects (preferred)
*
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics
*
Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and safety rules
*
Willingness to travel to sites across the UK
*
Strong attention to detail and quality-focused approach

ECS / CSCS card
*
Experience with SCADA, protection relays or BESS interfaces
*
Previous work within DNO / IDNO or ICP environments
