Location: Swanage, Dorset • Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, Term Time Only • Pay Rate: £90 per day • Start Date: ASAP
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Swanage. The school is dedicated to developing pupils’ knowledge, skills, and values, preparing them to become confident, responsible citizens. With a strong focus on supporting the development of the whole child, the school fosters key values for life and provides a caring, inclusive environment for every pupil. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), as well as assisting with classroom activities to promote engagement and progress for all learners.
Responsibilities
* Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, ensuring their individual needs are met and inclusion is promoted
* Support with lesson delivery, behaviour management, and preparation of resources
* Encourage and monitor pupil progress in reading, writing, and mathematics
* Record observations and contribute to assessments and IEP reviews
* Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to implement support strategies
Qualifications and attributes
* Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEN (preferred)
* Patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach to supporting learning
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Must be a driver due to the school’s location
* Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
